Awards?

We lack a suggestions forum (that would be a nice thing to add, hint hint) so I put this here like Ren did with the judicial system topic. Yes, I'm blaming Ren for my topic possibly being in the wrong forum. =P

Anyway, what I propose is that we add some sort of awards for members. I've seen it done on other forums and, if the staff actually puts a little work into doing it, it tends to work well. One main award would be member of the [insert time increment here]. Often month is used, but details can be worked out later. Many other awards could of course be added as well, including less serious ones. Recepients would either be decided by the staff, or by a vote amongst all members (I'd presonally think admin decision would work better, but that's up for debate).

What are your thoughts, and possible suggestions to improve this?

Cool, cool. To be honest more of what I personally had in mind was a little awards ceremony thing at the end of every month or something with member of the month and the like, but yeah. Not implying that I think you aren't doing that, just making sure that kind of thing will still be coming. =P

Thanks. I don't want to make it sound like I don't appreciate the stuff Admin is doing at the moment, because I do, I just want to make sure a little monthly awards ceremony will indeed occur.

As for specifics, it's still up to Admin if he wants to make the vote public or not. I would recommend coming up with some categories and having the admins vote for a member from each in private. I'd think we would probably make admins not capable of winning awards (well, it depends on the award, but I'd say definitely don't give them member of the month), but still give them to mods. But that's up to Admin, if he wants he can have everyone here vote in the categories.
