| Hello, all! This here is a list of some of my favorite Mind Traps! on 7/24 I will post the answers and the person with the most correct answers will win an avatar or sig made by Clan, the guy who did the site banner. Well, get out your thinking caps and bust up these mind traps!
Easy
1. A high speed electric train is travelling southeast at 90 kilometers per hour. The wind is blowing westward at 30 kilometers an hour. In what direction will the smoke from the engine blow?
2. There is a town in Northern Ontario where 5% of all the people living in the town have unlisted phone numbers. If you selected 100 names at random from the town’s phone directory, on average, how many of these people selected would have unlisted phone numbers?
3. Picture a ship at anchor. Over the side hangs a rope ladder with half meter rungs. The tide rises half a meter per hour. At the end of five hours, how much of the ladder will remain above the water assuming that nine rungs were above the water when the tide began to rise?
4. Mr. Dodgers and the children in the neighborhood are raking leaves at Mr. Dodger’s house. They have three piles of leaves in the back yard and seven piles of leaves in the front yard. When Mr. Dodgers and all of the kids put all of the piles together, how many piles will they have?
5. At 7 a.m. a train moving 90 kph leaves Montreal heading for Toronto. At 8 a.m. a train running 110 kph leaves Toronto heading for Montreal. Which train will be closer to Montreal when they meet?
6. An old beggar collects cigarette ends from ashtrays and sidewalks and uses the tobacco to roll her own cigarettes. She has this practice down to a fine art, knowing that seven cigarette ends will make one cigarettes. Since she has collected 49 ends, how many cigarettes can she make?
7. How many times can you subtract the number 5 from 25?
